2 Resort Amenities That Might Make Your Vacation More Enjoyable

Posted on

After booking a few spots at that resort everyone has been talking about, you might be ready to kick back and have a great time. But what will you do with your teenager? How will you handle work problems while you are on an island? Although resorts are typically designed to let you relax and forget about your problems, issues can come up—even if you have carefully planned your get-away. Fortunately, these two resort amenities might make your vacation more enjoyable:

1: Teen Concierges

As soon as you hop on the plane, your teenager might start peppering you with questions about your vacation plans. How long will you be staying? Will there be Internet at the hotel? Will they be able to call their friends back home? Believe it or not, research has shown that teenagers can play a significant role in ending their parent's vacations early, which is why some high-end hotels and resorts now offer teen concierges.

Much like traditional concierge services, teen concierges can give your kid information about local restaurants, shopping centers, and activities. However, since your kid might not respond well to advice from an adult, most hotels hire younger adults that wear normal street clothes instead of a stiff-looking uniform. If your teen is shy, don't worry. Concierges are also available via email, text message, or even social media.

In addition to giving your kid a long list of things to do, concierges can also play an important role in helping you to keep track of your child. If you are wondering where your teen has been or where they are planning on going, you can simply ask the teen concierge what is on the docket that day. Since they are a hotel employee and not one of your kid's friends, they will tell you—allowing you to keep track of things without seeming nosy.

2: Tech Gadgets

It never fails. You pack your bags, get on the plane, and finally arrive at your hotel—only to discover that you have left crucial tech gadgets at home. Fortunately, most resorts offer a huge variety of tech gadgets and accessories so that you can stay connected. Here are a few things your resort might have available for you to use:

  • Earphones: Nothing is worse than trying to endure a grueling 40-minute treadmill run without being able to listen to your music. Unfortunately, if you left your earphones at home, you might end up watching the morning news instead of jogging along to your favorite tracks. However, some hotels have earphones available so you can stay on top of your workout regimen.
  • Chargers: Unless you feel like searching the island for a computer store that imports American electronics, you might be out of luck if you left your computer or cell phone charger at home. Instead of being able to check your e-mail or post that awesome beach photo, you might only be able to stay connected until that battery dies. Fortunately, some hotels offer in-room charging stations where you can plug in your devices overnight.
  • Video Game Consoles: If that teen concierge doesn't have enough suggestions to keep your kids busy, borrowing a video game console from the front desk might do the trick. Some hotels offer a huge range of consoles, games, and even accessories, so that your children can enjoy their downtime.
  • Business Centers: Nothing is worse than being on vacation and receiving a frantic email from a coworker, boss, or client. Fortunately, many resorts offer business centers complete with fax machines, computers, printers, and scanners, so that you can get things done without setting up shop in your room.

When you travel, don't be afraid to talk to the front desk if you discover that you have left something at home. You might be surprised with how accommodating your resort might be and how much money you can save by borrowing something instead of buying a new one.

By choosing a resort that caters to your needs, you might be able to forget your worries and enjoy a first-class experience.
