3 Fun Games For Adults To Play On A Charter Bus

Posted on

A charter bus is one of the most affordable ways that there is for a large group of people to travel a long distance. That's why charter bus services are such a popular choice for church groups, social clubs, and other organizations. But affordable or not, a long trip on a bus can get boring quickly. If you were taking a busload of kids on a field trip, you'd know what to do – you'd have a list of sing-a-long songs and bus games to keep everyone entertained. It may sound corny, but adults can have fun playing games on the bus too – it definitely beats staring out the window for hours on end. Take a look at some fun bus games that will help keep your group entertained on your next charter bus trip.

License Plate Poker

This can be a fun game for any group, but it's an especially good choice if your group is headed to Vegas, or to any other location where you'll have casino opportunities. The rules of the game are simple – you have to try to make the best hand you can out of the numbers on license plates that you can see from your window on the bus.

The letters and numbers on the license plates count as cards. The letter A is an Ace, K is a king, Q is a queen, and J is a jack. The number 0 can be substituted for the ten card. Most of the letters other than A, K, Q, or J don't count for anything; however, you can declare X a wild card. When a plate has two or more of the same number or letter, it count as a pair, three-of-a-kind, and so on. This fun little game will have everyone in a gambling mood by the time you reach your destination. Try betting for something little, like mints or sticks of gum, instead of bringing money into it. Save your money for your destination.

The Crazy Question Game

This can be a fun icebreaker if no one in the group you're traveling with knows each other very well. However, the goal of the game is to ask creative, off-the-wall  questions, so it should work just as well with a tight-knit group that knows each other well – you can all still learn something new about each other.

For this game, everyone needs to pair up. The easiest way to do this is for everyone to pair off with their seatmate. The pairs ask each other the craziest questions they can think of. Questions like, "If you could hear colors, what do you think purple would sound like?" or "If you could be any type of shoe, which kind would you choose?" are good examples. Set a time limit or a number of questions for each round, and once the round is over, go around the bus and share what you've learned. Shake things up by having everyone change seatmates at rest stops, or make it a competition by having everyone vote on the most creative question and answer from each round.

Highway Bingo

This game will take some preparation ahead of time. Make up some modified Bingo cards. Instead of numbers, each square should have a different sight that you might see on a highway.

A Canadian license plate, a highway patrol car, or a stranded motorist can all be Bingo squares. If you've traveled the route before, you may be able to include things that you know will come up eventually – a billboard for a specific business, or a certain turnoff. Pass out cards to everyone on the bus as they get on, and see how many people can reach Bingo before you reach your destination.

Games are more fun when there are prizes for the winners, so you may want to consider bringing along some small treats that your group can compete for. If you plan it correctly, the bus ride can end up being as much fun as the trip itself.
